Description
Well known artist J. Macdonald Henrys portrait depictions of Jamaican Children and People. Her work is generally done in charcoal. At thirteen she won an art scholarship in Washington, D.C., USA. At age sixteen she won a full scholarship to Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie-Mellon University) . Noted accomplishment include awards and a commissioned illustration of the Nola Island Readers series by the Jamaican Government, the first non-European school books for and about Jamaican children. 17 x 11 on paper lithograph depicting Head portrait of Jamaican Girl wearing small hoop earrings, with hand touching mouth.
