Western Europe, Neoclassical or Victorian, ca. 19th century CE. This is a lovely and functional 53.5% (equivalent to 12K+) gold lapel or hat pin that is capped by a stunning quartz cameo. The cameo features a lovely refined, young woman hand-carved from a creamy white that nicely contrasts the pale red background, the elegant lady faces right displaying a gentle brow, a Grecian nose, and bowed lips held closed. Braided coils of hair are adorned with flowers, and her shoulders are modestly covered with a kerchief. The gold pin supports the square bezel, attached to the verso with a split stem.
