Slightly under 5/8" width of fully evolved cusped top heart form and nicely domed section. Broad-line border scrolling for the cusp and the top of a trefoil, completed by an angular terminal. The form is an abstract demon face with a grinning mouth. Foliate designs were favored by Vikings and incorporated into about half of the heart pendants. The double image here is are in our experience. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored on a gilt Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
