Nickel-Plated Brass and Etched Glass Steam Pumper Fire Engine Lantern, Devoursney Brothers, New York, New York, Late Nineteenth Century. The front ruby glass bevelled pane etched and flashed with a view of a four story building, flying the American flag and engulfed in flames, with a steam pumper and numerous figures running in the foreground, the opposite pane in colorless glass, etched with a diamond centering a star and issuing four acorn and oak leaf sprays, the remaining two panes in blue glass, each etched with the numeral "4" within foliate swags, all surmounted by a displayed eagle finial, marked "DEVOURSNEY BROS/ MAKERS/ 389 BROOME ST/ NEW YORK" into an oval. H: 19.5 in., W: 7.75 in., D: 7.75 in.
