Description
Massive, framed soldier's memorial commemorating the service of John Muckle, who fought with Battery "I" of the Pennsylvania Light Artillery. This piece displays the military discharge of Pvt. Muckle written in beautiful calligraphy and is adorned on both sides by typical military insignia/patriotic motifs. Under the discharge is the period inscription noting that it was presented by Muckle to his wife, Catharine, in 1893.
This extremely large document emphasizes the importance Muckle's service and the war had on their family, and it would have likely been displayed in a prominent location.
Measures ~38 x 30 inches.
