Early 20th century half navy morocco gilt over marbled boards, 6 compartments with 5 raised bands, gilt lettering in two compartments, remainder framed with single gilt fillets, top edges gilt, marbled endpapers, gilt stamp–signed by J. & E. Bumpus. Provenance: Annie Cowdray (large and attractive engraved bookplate in each volume by William Phillips Barrett), wife of the 1st Viscount Cowdray and prolific British collector of the early 20th century (see Cowdray Sale, Christie’s London, 13–15 September 2011). Fourth edition in an attractive binding.
