Description
18th century AD or later. A silver ring with rectangular-section hoop decorated with incised floral vines and a medial string of elliptical cartouches, each containing one of three Latin words: 'Abiit Non Obiit' ('He Has Gone Away Not Perished), tiered square bezel engraved with a central skull flanked by two crosses, a rose below. 15.5 grams, 24.89mm overall, 17.99mm internal diameter (approximate size British O 1/2, USA 7 1/4, Europe 15.61, Japan 15) (1"). Private collection of a West Sussex collector since before 1970.
