Description
Two Roman Catholic Icons representing Saint Dominic Ordo Praedicatorum. Both sculptures are hand carved on wood and painted. The oldest piece dated mid XIX Century shows signs of burnt and stress. The second piece dates circa 1930s and its origin is in Philippines, containing elements of folk imagery like the addition of angelical wings. Domingo Félix de Guzmán and Osma and Caleruega, Spain 1170 to 1221, was a Castilian Catholic priest and founder of the Dominican Order. Dominic is the patron saint of astronomers. The Dominican order is one of the most powerful and dynamic institutions inside the monastic branches of Catholicism.
