For your consideration is a fabulous and rare mid-20th Century "Expo" glass vase by Nils Landberg for Orrefors glassworks. This baluster form vase is quite exceptional in its delicacy and color saturation. The base of the vase starts with a very pale purple and rises to a deep and heavily saturated aubergine near the rim. The underside of the vase is engraved "Orrefors Expo 1581 N. Landberg".
Nils Landberg was born in May 1907 and died in 1991, he was a reknowned Swedish glass artist, and studied at the Handicraft Society School in Gothenburg. Landberg worked at Orrefors Glassworks between 1925-72, initially as an engraver and from 1936 as a designer. He began with engraved glass and debuted at the Paris Exhibition in 1937, participated in the World Exhibition in New York in 1939 and won the gold medal at the 1957 Milan Triennale. Nils Landberg is best known to the public for his thin wall elegant tableware and art glass. His most famous designs are Tulip and Dusk. There are pieces of Landbergs work in many public buildings throughout Sweden and is represented in several museums in Sweden, Germany and the United States.

Item is in excellent condition with no breaks, chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Light water deposit line noted to interior near base noted - only seen when held to bright light and can likely be removed as build-up is not heavy. Please see all images for more information on condition.
