Description
This is a gold James McCabe signed half hunter pocketwatch from the Royal Exchange. It was once owned by Naser al-Din Shah Qajar and been in family ever since. Provence is displayed but not included. The front of this 18k yellow gold displays a painted portrait of The Shah who was in rule of Iran, when this was created in 1868. Inside the portrait it bears the initials "JM" for the famous watchmaker James McCabe. Case: 18k gold, hallmarked for 1868 and with JM makers mark, 54 mm, four body, reeded rim, gold slide lever on the rim to release the catch spring, hinged gold dust cover signed Jas McCabe Royal Exchange London 06139Dial: enamel, black Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds at six with blued steel hand, gold spade hour and minute handsMovement: No. 06139, gilt full plate, duplex escapement, bimetallic cut balance wheel with brass and steel mean time screws, over sprung blued steel hairspring with index regulator to a scale on the plate, single footed engraved balance bridge with diamond end stone, repeat activated from the pendant, hammers striking on gong rods. Naser al-Din Shah Qajar (16 July 1831 – 1 May 1896) was the Shah (King) of Qajar Iran from 5 September 1848 to 1 May 1896 when he was assassinated. He was the son of Mohammad Shah Qajar and Malek Jah'n Kh'nom and the third longest reigning monarch in Iranian history after Shapur II of the Sassanid dynasty and Tahmasp I of the Safavid Dynasty. Nasser al-Din Shah had sovereign power for close to 50 years. He was the first modern Persian monarch who formally visited Europe and also wrote his memoirs. Item is located in Corona Del Mar, Ca.
