It is filled with soundings, two magnetic variation roses, and other sailing information. Notes at left give additional information on soundings, etc. Identifies Victoria on Vancouver Island, Taftsonville and Coveland on Whidbey Island and also Ft. Bellingham on the mainland. The Strait of Juan de Fuca extends westward to beyond the Port Angelos, Ediz Hook, Observatory Pt., and Low Pt. It is one of several maps published in the House of Representatives documents on the Berlin Arbitration of 1873 when the Kaiser settled on the Western Line in favor of the American claim -- this map doesn't show the various claims.
