"Composition Book" cover with drawings by Spain Rodriguez in black ink and white paint, with a label attached elaborately signed: "SPAIN." Excellent condition, stress lines to spine area not affecting artwork. Accompanying the art is a 1982 poster for an exhibition of Spain's work at The 1st International San Francisco Armory Show at Fort Mason, folded, with a handwritten letter on the verso to Water Row Books publisher Jeffrey Weinberg, a photocopied illustration from Spain's spiral-bound sketchbook ("Bitter Dawn"), and two naked lady bookmarks, one of which is inscribed on the verso: "Jeff / Here's more work from my note books. SPAIN." Provenace: From the collection of Water Row Books publisher Jeffrey Weinberg.

An original drawing of a woman seen from behind, with a race car, a man's face, an eye in the sky, and other elements. This artwork was sent by Spain to Water Row Books publisher Jeffrey Weinberg, along with a photocopy from Spain's sketchbook and two printed bookmarks featuring an otherwise naked lady in heels, stockings and garters (dated 1982). These items were sent to Mr. Weinberg in hopes of attracting work, and they are accompanied by a handwritten letter on the back of an exhibition poster, reading in part: " Jeffrey Weinberg - Bruce Sweeney told me to get in touch with you. He said you might be interested in illustrations. I've worked for numerous magazines and newspapers. I've been in 'Playboy,' 'Esquire,' 'The New York Times,' and 'New York Magazine.' I've also done illustrations for a German edition of Women by Charles Bukowski. I can work in all kinds of mediums including oils, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencils, pentels and mixed medium.... Thanx, SPAIN."
