VG- (3.5). Small nicks at spine ends, dampsoiling to top left corner of covers and pages with stains to inside covers and first and last few leaves and waviness to affected areas, light crease to bottom corner of back cover, a bit of rubbing to back cover. Full of anecdotes and recollections about EC's staffers and artists culled from 1972 interviews with Gaines, Feldstein, Kurtzman, Davis, Wood, Elder, Evans, and Krenkel. Illustrated with caricatures by Marie Severin, and with black and white reprints of seven classic EC stories.

The first and only EC Fan-Addict Convention took place in 1972 and has since become the stuff of legend. The con was held over the Memorial Day weekend at the McAlpin Hotel in New York City, and a never-to-be-repeated roster of EC artists was in attendance. For fans and pros alike, the event represented EC's journey from vilification to vindication.

A lucky Fan-Addict named Eli had the presence of mind to have his convention book signed by a number of EC greats, some of whom added sketches. This epic artifact is signed by BILL GAINES ("Ecch! Bill Gaines"), AL FELDSTEIN, JOE ORLANDO (with an ink sketch of some weird alien critter), HARVEY KURTZMAN (who used his classic "little man" signature), WILL ELDER (with a black marker silhouette of Little Annie Fanny, and a second marker sketch of Frankenstein's monster), JACK DAVIS (with a marker sketch of a cheerful-looking young chap, possibly Eli himself), GEORGE EVANS (who signed his name in blue ballpoint and drew a caricature of Dracula in black ballpoint), MARIE SEVERIN (who drew a wonderful marker sketch of the Hulk), AL WILLIAMSON (who drew a tight sketch of Flash Gordon with a fine-tipped blue ballpoint), HOWARD CHAYKIN (who worked as Wally Wood's assistant in the early 1970s, and who drew a self-portrait in pencil), and WAYNE HOWARD, a Wood-influenced artist who created the horror-themed Midnight Tales title for Charlton in the 1970s.

A deluxe limited edition of 12 hardcover catalogues is available, in addition to a small number of softcovers. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $40, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Eight of the 12 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now.
