Description
A Chinese export silver epergne, Ning Zhao Ji for Taylor and Co, ca. 1895, the footed form cast as a naturalistic figure of crane supporting a central trumpet vase with repousse sprays of chrysanthemum, reserved against a fish scale ground with leaf frond border, issuing a lower tier of three smaller trumpet vases, confroming decorated with chrysathemum flowers, the whole rising on a finely carved wood base with alternating ruyi sceptres and stylized fish outlines, stamped marks, 17.5"h x 8"d, total weight 32 toz, Provenance M.S. Rau, New Orleans, Louisiana
