Description

Featured in this lot is this hand crafted saddle, by Pat Connolly, one of three sons of renowned tack maker - John Connolly. The three Connolly sons (Jack, Andrew, and Pat) split with their father in 1907 to relocate to Butte, Montana, which was the start up location of the first Connolly Bros Harness Shop. In 1912, Jack and Pat moved on to Billings, where Jack was credited with expanding the business into saddle manufacture. In the year of the stock market crash, which led to the Great Depression in 1929, Jack moved himself to Livingston, Montana, where Jack Connolly Saddlery was formed. The saddle features a masterfully western tooling to the edges of the saddle; the makers mark can be seen behind the seat and on the skirt. The saddle comes complete with 2" leather wrapped monel stirrups and a fully fleeced skirt underside. The condition of this saddle is good with wear due to use and age of the saddle, with some of the saddle strings showing tears but otherwise in good overall condition. The measurements of this saddle are 32" x 18 1/2" x 24 1/2" and the seat size is 15".
