Description
Lionel postwar O 6464-300 Rutland type IIa box car conversation piece in original box. Car shows light to moderate run time and is C7-8 with rubber stamped lettering in a fair original box that is missing three of the four flaps from one end. The car has what appears to be a factory flaw on one side where the mask was not tight to the car and allowed green paint to come all the way up to where it touches the Rutland herald on one side only. the doors appear to have been painted two different ways because they are two different heights on the stripe. Most folks refuse to approach the subject of calling something out but I'll go ahead and state that from two highly experienced and respected collectors of the Lionel community, I have been told that virtually every "split door Rutland" is fake. These were made built up unscrupulous dealers to make some extra income by altering the doors on the most common variation of the -300 Rutland to make it "Rare". Being brutally honest in my dealings, I cannot and will not sell items as being original when I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are not an original piece and were altered to appear as something special for financial gain, I am going to call it out every single time.
