RIAA 9x Multi-Platinum Award for Green Day Dookie album, which was released on Feb. 1, 1994. The fast-selling release was certified 9x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for nine million copies sold on May 3, 1996, which is celebrated with this hard-to-find award.

Fueled by singles "Welcome to Paradise", "Longview", "Basket Case", and "When I Come Around", the latter three of which hit #1 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart, the debut release from Bay area power punk trio achieved great success. It went to #3 slot on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and won the band a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album in 1995. By 1999 the album was certified 10x Multi-Platinum for ten million copies sold making it a rare RIAA Diamond award certified release.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA 9x Multi-Platinum award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured in 1996 making it approximately 25 years old. This award is presented to Tommy Nast, a promotions and marketing executive.

The award is all original with Ill-Eagle Enterprises manufacturer's sticker on its back. This award is in Good to VG condition. While it has no chips on the frame cover, some minor separation is starting to occur. It also has a fairly noticeable ding on the top surface of the top rail (which is not visible when the award is hung on a wall), minor mars on the plexiglass and some fading of the backing paper.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
