Description
Technique: Hand colored Etching on Paper
Inscription: signed lower left in the printing plate "J.D. Meyer ad viv. fec. et exc. Norib.", inscribed lower right "1. shoe 2. inch long.", numbered upper right "Tab. LXXXIII.", inscribed in between "Das Kaninchen" and "Das Scelet von obigen", inscribed in ink "Le Lapin" and "son squelète".
Date: c. 1750
Description: Detailed zoological illustration of a rabbit, probably from a scientific textbook or reference book. The upper illustration shows the living rabbit with its most distinctive identifying features. Below is the skeleton of the animal with precise representation of the individual bones.

Size: 37.2 cm x 24.3 cm (14.6 x 9.6 in), Depiction: 30.1 cm x 20.0 cm (11.9 x 7.9 in)
Condition: Good condition. Foxing is visible on the entire sheet. The sheet edges are slightly wavy, bumped and brownish discoloured. Traces of a former book binding are visible along the left edge of the sheet. The image makes a very good impression. The colours are freshly preserved.
