This lot features an original tray, three paper label bottles and an original cardboard stand up advertising piece. Around the inside edge of the tray it reads Brewed with Pure Catskill Mountain Water, on the outside edge it reads Barmann Beer and on the inside of the tray it reads For Pure Pleasure, Barmann Beer with the Brewery Logo. The Peter Barmann Brewery, was located at 30 Barmann Avenue in Kingston NY . Peter Barmann came to America in 1857 and soon was apprenticed to his uncle, Balthazar Schwalbach, in the brewing business. Brewery buildings were constructed around 1885 and the produced lager beer, ale, and porter until 1920, when Prohibition began. In an attempt to continue production, the brewery ran a rubber hose through a city sewer line to a side-street bottling plant, but it was eventually discovered.
