Description
An assembled group of fifteen (15) sterling silver items, mostly Danish, including a three-piece signed Georg Jensen floral Art Deco jewelry set consisting of one (1) pair of clip-style earrings and one (1) brooch in the original box; one (1) pair of signed Georg Jensen clip-style floral earrings; two (2) Georg Jensen signed floral hat pins; one (1) signed Georg Jensen 2-tine fork; one (1) Made in Denmark sterling money clip; one (1) H. A. H. (Heige Andreas Hejlessen) bar pin; one (1) Danish floral brooch with partial hallmark; one (1) Danish brooch in the form of a grape cluster; one (1) Danecraft sterling silver bangle bracelet with heart design; two (2) Danish demitasse spoons with maker's marks including COHR; one (1) Allan Adler mid-century spoon; and one (1) miniature sterling ladle marked sterling with no maker's marks. Items range in size from 3/4" L to 5 1/8" L. 4.84 total troy ounces. Provenance: The collection of Gary Glesser of Loudon, Tennessee, by descent from his grandparents, Captain Hoyt and Rachel Holton of Toledo, Ohio. Hoyt Holton became, at age 17, the youngest captain of a Great Lakes Freighter. In the 1960s, Captain Holton participated in a 26-day Admiral Byrd Society trip replicating the explorer's famous transpolar expedition, during which he met the Pope and Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev. Many items in the collection were brought back as souvenirs from that journey and other frequent voyages.
