Description
American Hepplewhite inlaid serpentine card table, mahogany and cherry primary woods with maple and various light wood and pitch inlays, white pine and walnut (fly rail) secondary. Serpentine hinged top with line inlaid edge, over a shaped frieze with geometric line inlaid reserves including a central panel with dark inlay. Four square tapered legs with string inlay, arched at the tops, terminating in inlaid cuffs with some darker wood stringing at the ends. 29 1/4" H x 36" W x 35" D (with leaf open). Attributed to Pennsylvania, possibly Philadelphia area, circa 1800. Purchased from Polk Place Antiques, Nashville, 2007. Copy of receipt available to winning bidder. Ref. Condition
Overall good condition. Older refinish with light general use wear, some vertical wood shrinkage to skirt center. A few minor restorations to cuff and string inlay.
