Description
Southeast Asian carved giltwood and polychrome sculpture of the Buddha standing in the Mandalay style with a top knot and elongated earlobes and hands; mirrored accents to headdress, flowing robes, and lotus form pedestal; all mounted on a wooden base. Sculpture: 21 3/4" H x 8 3/4" W 3 1/4" D. Overall with base: 25 3/4" H. Late 19th/Early 20th century. Provenance: Collection of Thomas M. Alexander, Greeneville, TN, former U.S. Army Captain Airborne/Special Forces during the Late 1960s/Early 1970s in Vietnam. He became a Central Intelligence Agency Field Officer in Southeast Asia, beginning in the Early 1970s until his retirement in 1994.

Condition
Overall good condition with areas of natural age shrinkage, largest 4 1/2". Scattered areas of loss, largest 3/4" x 3/4", to headdress. 4 5/8" area of repair to left side of robe and hand.
