Carl Rudolph Krafft

Depicts a winding river cutting through freshly fallen snow snaking between bare trees. Krafft had a studio in Oak Park Illinois, where the surrounding countryside became his inspiration. Krafft travelled around to Brown County, Indiana, and the Ozarks of south-central Missouri where he established the Society of Ozark Painters with Rudolph Ingerle (1879-1950). His paintings became very popular during the Depression and were often copied, to combat this Krafft would put his thumbprint on his works.
