Thomas R. Curtin
Vermont, Massachusetts
1899-1977
Impressionist depiction of a winding path beside a frozen river blanketed by snow with large mountains towering in the distance. Curtin studied at the National Academy of Design in New York, the Art Student League in New York, and the Vesper George School in Boston. Curtin was a student of John F. Carlson (1874-1945) who later became a close friend who would accompany him on weekend painting trips. Curtin was also associated with W.M. Lester Stevens, Aldro T. Hibbard, Emile Gruppe, George Gardner Symons, Leo Blake, Steve Maniotti, Ken Gore and Paul Strisik during this time. Curtin exhibited at the North Shore Arts Association, the Pittsfield Art League, the Berkshire Artist's Association, the Rockland Artist's Association, and the Vermont Artist's Association among many others.
