Item Details
Description
Tea-Dust Glazed Two-Ear Porcelain Incense Burner.

Provenance: We are very honored to have the consignment from Mr. Ken J. White, whose father was the nephew of Thaddeus C. White, husband of Princess Der Ling (裕德齡) of the Great Qing Dynasty. Princess Der Ling's only son died from pneumonia at the age of 20, and she kept close relationship with this young nephew. She told him many stories of the Qing Palace, like the Guangxu Emperor's luxurious meals and Empress Dowager Cixi's majestic honor guards.

Mr. Ken White had inherited from Princess Der Ling legacies including some Asian artworks. Influenced by Princess Der Ling, he himself had become a Chinese culture enthusiast and started his own collection from 1930s. The art pieces, the stories, as well as the passion in Asian art were passed down to Mr. Ken J. White.
