Groucho Marx was an American Legend -- a master of the quick wit, voluble and outrageously funny. With his siblings, The Marx Brothers, Groucho made 15 Hollywood feature films. Prior to that, the Marx Brothers had great success in vaudeville until they were unceremoniously kicked out; their response was to do legitimate theater in 1924 and became the toast of Broadway. In Hollywood, the Marx Brothers first 5 films are one of the last links to the era when vaudeville was the primary form of entertainment in America. After his work with his brothers, Groucho had a triumphant solo career in 1947-1960 with the radio and television game-show, 'You bet your Life' (which continued into the 1970s in reruns). Along the way - Groucho conquered Hollywood.
Groucho Marx tells his saga in show business & life with all sorts of hilarious stories and asides, some occasionally tender, but most of the time they are just funny. Groucho writes in his own unique style - with humor and wit.

He gratefully dedicated his book to "Six Masters of Wise and Witty Words Without Whom My Life Would Have Been Even Duller": R. Benchley, G. Kaufman, R. Lardner, S.J. Perelman, J. Thurber, E.B. White.
