A THANGKA DEPICTING VAJRAPANI
Sinotibetan, 19th century. Distemper and gold on cloth. The fierce deity Vajrapani at the center within a flaming aureole, holding a vajra in his right hand, dressed in a tiger skin, a naga around his neck, with the green Tara on the top right, Buddha Shakyamuni on the top left, Manjushri on the bottom left, and Avalokiteshvara on the bottom right. In a brocade mounting and framed.
Provenance: Hungarian private collection, according to the current owner acquired from a British collector.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, creasing, soiling, and few minuscule losses.
Dimensions: 82 x 64 cm (incl. frame), 55.3 x 37.5 cm (the painting)
