Description
Victorian Chinese Chippendale-style mahogany urn stand, late 19th century, with square galleried top above a pierced fretwork frieze on cluster-column legs joined by a X-form stretcher. Provenance: Christie's, New York "American Collecting in the English Tradition: Property of the Metropolitan Museum of Art" sale, October 27, 2015, lot 144. [27 1/2" H x 11 3/4" W x 11 3/4" D]. Break at one corner of one of the stretchers; narrow vertical split in the apron joint just above one of the legs. The finish is in good condition, as is the carving.
