Classical Period, 500 - 400 BC.A gorgeous gold bracelet that glistens with impressive artistry and symbolic iconography. The piece is comprised of a nineteen plain gold beads, nine beads with filigree, two spacer beads which are carefully woven resolving in two lion headed terminals and presenting fabulous detailing of the wild felines' features in bas relief. Lions are often the iconic stars of ancient Greek stories, such as Herakles' defeat of the Nemean lion. In ancient Greece, lions symbolised both strength and royalty.
