Description
A low fired ceramic body sculpted in the shape of a Chinese immortal, and painted in yellow, turquoise, blue, black, and rose. The back is a non-descript gray. The sculpting was professionally done. His beard is free flowing, and the hat, hands, and feet are very detailed. There is detailing on the robe and face. The base of the feet are not glazed as well as the hands and inner lining of the robe.
MEASUREMENTS
6 ½” (16.5 cm) tall x 5 ½” (14.0 cm) wide x 3 ¾” (9.5 cm) deep. Weighs 12.7 oz (365 g)
CONDITION
The figure is missing a hand. The rest of the figure is intact. There are some clay deposits on the robe from manufacture. The colors are still bright.
A great old sculpture that would look great fitted with a stand. This figure could even be older than the 19th century. It definitely has that old Ming look.
