Description
130+ Thailand "Siam Bi" Porcelain Gaming Coins 19th Century; with impressed designs, underglaze blue calligraphy, coloring, etc.; together with 2 or 3 small bronze Mediterranean coins. Approximate diameters from 1/2 inch to 1 inch (1.27 cm. to 2.75 cm.). NOTE: Originally made for Chinese Gambling Houses operated in Thailand and Malaysia, these coins often became substitutes for petty coinage in times of civil problems and money shortages. PROVENANCE: From a estate Patchogue NY collection.
