Two Meiji Period Japanese Figural Match Safes
late 19th century; the first is silverplate and in the form of a monkey with a fly on his knee, with copper and gold highlights (2 1/2 in.) (minor wear to plating); the second is copper with gilt highlights and in the form of an oni (2 1/4 in.) (cover slightly loose).
