Two Rare Antique Gorham Sterling Silver Novelty Items
the first a Narragansett individual sized salt cellar in the form of an oyster shell with scallop shell foot and "barnacles," 1887 date symbol, model number 2085 (.32 troy oz., 2 1/4 in.); the second a figural olive spoon, circa 1870-1875 with decorative piercing to bowl and olive and leaf figural to center of handle and terminating in a spear, model number 267 (1.97 troy oz., 12 in.).
2.285 total troy oz.
An example of the olive spoon is featured in the Bayou Bend Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
