Thomas Handforth was an American artist, born in Tacoma, Washington. He studied art both in the U.S. and Paris, France. Handforth spent some time in China during the 1930s, which heavily influenced his art. During his time in Pecking (now Beijing) he wrote and illustrated a book called "Mei Li", which received the Caldecott Medal in 1939.

Condition: Very good condition, no tears or stains. Remains of old paper hinges in the upper margin corners.
