Harvey Breverman was an American painter and printmaker from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received his formal art training at Carnegie-Mellon University and took up teaching at the University at Buffalo in 1960, where he "created a significant printmaking program" as he once said in an interview. He received the SUNY Distinguished Professor Award in 1999, which is given to "[SUNY] faculty having achieved national or international prominence and a distinguished reputation within the individual's chosen field through significant contributions to the research and scholarship, or through artistic performance or achievement in the fine and performing arts." In 2003 he received the Distinguished Teaching of Art Award from the College Art Association.
Breverman had more than ninety solo exhibitions during his lifetime. His work can be found in institutions around the world.
