Item Details
Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. This is a gorgeous bracelet made of 3 ancient bronze coins and 4 glass fragments, all set in modern sterling silver bezels as a bracelet. The glass shards come from discarded bottles or vessels and are all a gorgeous teal blue hue with rainbow iridescence. The thick bezel lip hugs the unique shape of each piece. The coins are all different mints. The first is Emperor Valentinian I (364 to 367 CE). Obverse: Bust of Valentinian I, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, right. Reverse: Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm. The reverse of the other two bronze coins are soft and indiscernible, but the obverse of an emperor's bust is upward facing on all three coins. A toggle clasp adjusts the bracelet size, making this is a wearable collection of ancient artefacts! Size of bracelet: 8.5" L x 0.75" W (21.6 cm x 1.9 cm); largest coin: 0.75" Diameter (1.9 cm); silver quality: 92%; weight 34.6 grams
