Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. This is a gorgeous necklace comprised of 19 ancient glass and carnelian beads strung as a wearable piece with a modern sterling silver chain! The beads alternate between petite semi-translucent white beads, and larger spherical "eye beads" that consist of yellow, red, green, and blue millefiori patterns and nodules. At the center is a lozenge-cut carnelian stone, with lovely hues of creamy beige and citrine. The beads are tastefully arranged on a slightly curved pin finding with sterling silver chains attached to the tip with a functional push clasp.
