Egypt, Ptolemaic or Roman Period 1st cent B.C.-1st cent. A.D..Bronze. H. 13.3 cmThe statuette of the child god Harpocrates is rendered in Hellenistic style. He is naked and has his left leg slightly forward. His body is slightly corpulent. He brings his right index finger to his mouth. He wears a small double crown on his curly hair, from which an Egyptian side-curl comes off. In his left arm he holds a cornucopia around which is a cobra crowned with a sun disk. Good condition, minor damages on the crown.Collection Carl Leonhard Burckhardt (1902-1965).
