Additional Information: Prior to the Civil War Frederick Law Olmsted was anoted and popular Newspaper Journalist. He was hired to travel the Souther Slave States and report his observations as well as the actual Statistics regarding the successful Southern Economies of the various States. But he was particularly fascinated with his trip through Texas. His Journey would eventually account for 3 volumes but his Texas volume is complete within itself. Published in 1857 by Dix Edwards Co, First Edition, Engraved Frontis, Bright clean crisp foldout map at page 41-42. A wonderful informative index and appendix with total page count at 516pp but the endpapers are amazing tales of captures, and rewards for runaway slaves.
