Description
Cuban Army Colt New Service Double Action Revolver. Serial no. 308992 [frame and crane], .45 caliber, 5 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rear sight. Blued finish. Rampant Colt logo to left side of frame. Right side of barrel marked: EJERCITO DE CUBA. Smooth walnut grip panels. Lanyard ring. Note: These revolvers were purchased by the Cuban government before and after World War I to arm members of their army and the Cuban Rural Guard [Guardia Rurales]. These revolvers were likely purchased before the 20's when Cuba was still wealthy due to the sugar business / production. After World War One, the economy in Cuba collapsed and began a time known as the boom-and-bust prosperity associated with the rapid rise and collapse of sugar prices in Cuba. Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 92-94% finish with two trivial thin spots to right side of frame. Scattered signs of handling wear and very fine patches of pitting. Few scuffs and dings present to wood. Action crisp. Strong bore.
