Description

Cuban Army Colt New Service Double Action Revolver. Serial no. 308992 [frame and crane], .45 caliber, 5 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rear sight. Blued finish. Rampant Colt logo to left side of frame. Right side of barrel marked: EJERCITO DE CUBA. Smooth walnut grip panels. Lanyard ring. Note: These revolvers were purchased by the Cuban government before and after World War I to arm members of their army and the Cuban Rural Guard [Guardia Rurales]. These revolvers were likely purchased before the 20's when Cuba was still wealthy due to the sugar business / production. After World War One, the economy in Cuba collapsed and began a time known as the boom-and-bust prosperity associated with the rapid rise and collapse of sugar prices in Cuba. Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 92-94% finish with two trivial thin spots to right side of frame. Scattered signs of handling wear and very fine patches of pitting. Few scuffs and dings present to wood.
