**First Time At Auction**

Western Europe, France, ca. 18th century CE. A fine cast-brass stamp that features a double armorial seal. The stamp face is engraved with two distinct crests of noble or aristocratic families to represent the union of these lineages through marriage between a husband and wife. The left emblem is a pair of wings under three stars within a recessed oval. The right is also within a recessed oval with rows of fleur-de-lis. The armorials are then surmounted with a crown and flanked by vertical swords. The face is attached to a handle with a scrolling openwork form. The stamp would have been used to mark a wax seal on important documents and traces of red pigment is still visible within the recessed areas! Size: 1.4" L x 1" Diameter (3.6 cm x 2.5 cm)

Intact and very good. Age and use expected wear, minor nicks and abrasions. Armorial motifs are clear. Remains of red pigments and wax within the stamp face from use!
