Item Details
Description
**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Mixtec culture, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. A nice gathering of 7 Mixtec artifacts formed from stone or pottery. First are a trio of penate figures in either opaque white, translucent white, or opaque turquoise-hued stone. Next is a seated stone figure with an abstract countenance and a reptilian body with protruding spinal scales. A discoid pottery earspool is decorated with incised linear and concentric circle motifs, and a petite pottery object resembles either a chair backing or a fragment of a miniature toy cart. The largest item is a smooth-topped stone object, perhaps a lid for a vessel or a variation of a cloth beater. Size of largest: 4.125" L x 2" W (10.5 cm x 5.1 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
