**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely ensemble of 45 hand-carved shell beads, all strung on a modern strand to be wearable. The fine adornment is arranged with 12 rectangular beads at the center with 11 of these displaying anthropomorphic forms, then 2 tubular beads on one side and 1 on the other, followed by 15 discoid beads on either side. All the beads boast mottled hues of beige, yellow, pale pink, gray, and white. A wonderful combination of Pre-Columbian art and modern style! Size (of strand): 24" L (61 cm); Size (of largest bead): 1.6" L x 0.2" W (4.1 cm x 0.5 cm)
Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

Condition
All beads are ancient and strung on modern strand to be wearable. Losses to some anthropomorphic beads. Nicks, chips, and abrasions to all beads, commensurate with age. Otherwise, very nice.
