European Musketeers Style Fancy Ornate Horn Powder Flask
c. 17th Century, European "Musketeers" Style Ornate Decorative Horn Powder Flask with Brass Spout, Choice Very Fine.
This 17th century Musketeer's powder flask measures about 3.5" wide, 2.5" deep and 7" tall including the 1.5" brass spout. Fabulous original Horn body with numerous decorative "Bullseye" designs, being dots within outer circles. Wrought iron gate lever and suspension ring mounts, modern replacement colored rope handle. Type used throughout Colonial America. A Musketeer (French: mousquetaire) was a type of soldier equipped with a musket. Musketeers were an important part of early modern warfare particularly in Europe as they normally comprised the majority of their infantry. The musketeer was a precursor to the rifleman. A very fine example of a period Powder Horn as shown, excellent for display.
