Description
Pattern 1876 US McKeever cartridge box. Leather exterior with inner fabric pouches for the .45-70 Government ( .45-70 rifle cartridge) used in the Trapdoor Springfield. The McKeever cartridge box was designed by, First Lieutenant Samuel McKeever of the US 2nd Infantry Regiment in 1874 and continued to be used in various calibers and styles by the US Army till 1910. Hinged by a simple brass rod passing under the two sections, connected at the ends. This cartridge box is black leather dating to the 1890s. Closed Size - 4 x 7 x 1.5 inches. Condition note: Used item with the patina of handling and wear, over 125 years old. Please observe photos for condition carefully.
