A complete (we believe!) boxed kit primarily intended for the killing of any vampires that might have the misfortune of crossing paths with the owner of this relic. The kit contains 18 items essential for sending vampires back to Hell where they belong. These include: a dagger with ornate handle, 12 in. long, the blade etched: 'MALO MORTIS' (Latin: 'Evil Death'); two small framed reliquaries, one reading 'Peace eternal' in French, the other apparently containing relics of 'St. Benedict de Niria [sic]'; an unidentified reliquary; a wooden mallet with two polished four-sided wood stakes; a hand-carved cross with supporting handle so it could be displayed before others; a wood-framed beveled mirror; an 1887 Swedish Bible, a side-by-side pistol, 7 in. long, unmarked, with wood grips, dual trigger, mechanism operable; a brass powder container; a vial of holy water with the admonition: 'KEEP CONSTANTLY FILLED', a tin box with engraved cross on lid containing sealing wax and a blank stamp; four empty glass and brass vials nd containers, and a larger turned brass container we cannot open but which may contain a rosary. Every object fits into the fitted wooden case. This case is a 18 x 12 x 5 in. antique wood box with a cross inlaid to the hinged top cover. Very good. At the very least, the box dates to ca. 1870, as do many of the objects within.
