President Richard M. Nixon and Patricia Nixon rare, oversized Christmas card given only to the White House staff members for Christmas 1972. The 22 x 13 3/4" card (opened) bears red velvet-texture coveres with an embossed presidential seal. The first page bears a description of the reproduction of the portrait of Theodore Roosevelt within, with the greeting: 'With our best wishes, the President and Mrs. Nixon at Christmas 1972'. There follows a large color reproduction of the 1903 Theodore Roosevelt portrait by John Singer Sargent which is displayed in the White House Red Room, with a small metallic plaque beneath the image. With original envelope with gold ribbon and gold presidential seal, the ribbon neatly cut. Fine condition.
