Description
(1744 - 1833) American naval officer captured at Tripoli, and later commanded the Constitution in her victory over the Java. Manuscript L.S. as Commander of the Navy Yard, 1p. 4to., Charlestown, Mass., Apr. 6, 1833 to the Chairman of the Town Selectmen. Bainbridge advises that the Navy Yard is constructing a 'Quay Wall & Stone fence' and asks that the town allow scows and lighters carrying stone for the project to use the town's adjoining docks. Tiny bits of toned reinforcing tape at two margins, else very good.
