carved wood and paint. shade is painted by th eartist. This is the most incredible folk art lamp made by life long artist Jim Simmons of Madison, NC. Jim lived next to Benny Carter when Benny lived at what was known as the "old cabin" Benny collected and made so much art that one day he decided to have Kimbel Sterling do an onsite living estate sale at the cabin. about 1996... Jim Simmons put this lamp in the auction and it sold to renouned folk art dealer and collector Bill Jones where it has been for the last 2 decades. Now its back and ready to be in the hands of another natorious collector for the next 2 or 3 decades. This is a fantastic and seemingly important piece of folk art. total height 63" with shade, widest point is 19"
Condition
