19th-20th century Chinese dragon robe appears to be silk lined with finely woven natural linen. As you can see, it is heavily embroidered with dramatic dragons along with traditional motifs for clouds, water, etc. The embroidery is done entirely by hand. The silver metallic threads are attached to the robe with fine red thread using the couching technique. There appears to be some machine stitching employed in the construction of the shell.

CONDITION
- The robe is in excellent condition structurally with no tears, holes, or shattered silk.
- There are two areas on the back of the neck where the couching stitches have come loose, leaving the silver threads unattached to the robe. None of the silver threads appear to be missing, and because the pattern can be faintly seen on the black silk, these areas could be restored rather easily.
- There is some fading to the black silk only on the back at the sides.
- The lining has a few small spots and areas of minor discoloration, but is excellent structurally.
MEASUREMENTS

- 23" across the back between the side seams.
- Sleeve openings are 22" wide
- Length is approximately 52" measured down center back.
